COMPOSITE BONDING
What is composite bonding?
Composite bonding or cosmetic bonding is a cosmetic technique that can be completed in one visit at the dental chair. It is a technique that gives the appearance of a straighter, whiter smile by applying a dental material which is shaped and polished to match the surrounding teeth. It is used for cosmetic reasons and for chipped teeth or if there are gaps between the teeth.
Who can have composite bonding?
It is ideal for small gaps between teeth or slightly rotated teeth, chipped teeth, decayed, fractured or discoloured teeth.
Is it expensive?
Cosmetic bonding is cheaper than having veneers done. It can be done in one visit.
Do you need to remove any tooth structure away?
Normally no preparations are needed for composite bonding. Unless is a decayed tooth where we would have to remove the decay away and then fill with the cosmetic bonding.

How long does it last for?
The composite bonding is not as strong as natural tooth, so needs replacing after several years. You should avoid biting your fingernails, chewing pens or chewing on ice. It may also discolour if you are smoking, drinking red wine and from other strong food colouring.
