BRUSHING TECHNIQUES

Brushing the teeth is an important part of the daily routine. To have healthy mouth, brushing must be done twice a day for 2 minutes-once before bed and one other time during the day.

SOME TIPS FOR YOU:

- Choose a brush with small head and soft bristles.

-Use fluoride toothpaste.

-After brushing don’t rinse, only spit so the toothpaste can stay on your teeth and protect the teeth.

-Regular replacement of the toothbrush is also important

The technique most used to brush the teeth is called the Bass Brushing Technique.

  • Place the brush at a 45 degree angle to the gum. Bristles should contact the gum and the tooth.

  • Move the brush gently in small circular motion.

  • Brush all surfaces of the teeth –inner surface, outer and the chewing surface.

  • Brush the inner surface of the front teeth by tilting the brush vertically and make up and down strokes.

Tooth brushing by itself is not enough to get rid of all the bacteria and plaque that builds up in between the teeth. Flossing and interdental brushes should also be used for proper cleaning results daily!
